Development of this open educational resource would not have been possible without the vision and leadership of Dr. Hussein Abaza, Director of UNEP Economics and Trade Branch in Geneva. Dr. Abaza was responsible for the publication of the UNEP EIA Training Resources Manual and was very supportive of the idea of translating the manual into an open educational resource.

Barry Sadler also played a key role in the development of this open educational resource. Professor Sadler co-edited the UNEP EIA Training Resources Manual and kindly cooperated with UNU Online Learning as the subject matter expert for the interactive multimedia and video.

Last but not least, we would like to acknowledge the excellent work of Dr. Ralph Horne and Dr. Ian Thomas of RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, who edited the course materials, created the evaluations and developed the instructional guide for the course module.

  1. I am pleased to know UNU has started some rich content material for Open educational resources. Will you be pleased to let me know about assesment for the couse & certification?

Most of visitors have already expressed their concern about their transitional country background & possible limitations.

I would like to raise another concern,

Is the knowledge acquired through this means transfereable to credits etc?

  8. I am very fascinated by the richness of the EIA course modules. I have found it very useful and It will greatly assist me in the preparation of my EIA course for our M.Sc and Ph.D students in peace and strategic studies with option in peace and the environment. The EIA modules have been well structured and methodical. Can you please provide me with further resourceful sites on the application of EIA during the war situation such as preparation of EIA before the movement of heavy equipment by the peacekeepers to the war zones. This is an area that needs to be integrated into the EIA procedures.
Once again, I thank you for a great job.
