What are the characteristics of EIA policy and legislation in your locality? Draw up three lists relating to the EIA requirements and guidelines which relate to your locality or a locality you know well, as follows:
- Descriptive characteristics
- Strengths and positive aspects
- Weaknesses and/or areas which may be further strengthened
Describe the characteristics of the EIA procedure in your locality – provide its proper name and terminology, whether it has the backing of law, if not what pressures/encouragement is there to follow the procedure, who has legal/administrative responsible for it, to what does it apply (policies, projects, etc.)?
What is the process for screening, and what provisions are there for the involvement of the public/community?
